How would you deal with this issue? I feel like a dope...

Ok, so my inlaws went on a cruise for over a week and didn't call us to remind us that they were going or say goodbye :(
When we travel I am a fan of forwarding my itinerary to them since they are our closest relatives...argh..
Anyway, last night I pick dh up from work and he says, "Babe when is my mom's bday?" So I go into panic mode but then realize there is NO WAY we forgot my MIL's Bday. I told dh to immediately call my FIL and ask. Instead of fil being cool he's like all loud on the phone (so mil can hear) and says " well, you all screwed up- her bday was 6 days ago." Now this was when they were away on the cruise anyway. I feel like crap. I adore my mil and have never forgotten a gift or a card for any of his fam.

Now what kind of makeup/ birthday gift should I buy for the woman who doesn't believe in pampering herself (I bought her gift cards to the spa/ salon 2x and she refuses to go). I don't know what to give her.

Does anyone know of any cool websites where I can find a FABULOUS gift??

why dont u get her one of those gift baskest that has all the spa stuff in it....it has like body creams and shower gels bath beads etc in it....some come with robes and slippers....they can be pricey the more stuff thats in it but they are so nice and i think then she can pamper herself in her own home

Does she have a favorite store? Maybe you could pick something up from there or a gift card since it sounds like she wouldn't like a GC to a spa (if you think she would - and she is local Red Door is a nice one and you could get her a gift cert for an afternoon of pampering or a special treatment)- and I would also take her out to a nice lunch or dinner.
