Do you try peeling them when they are still too warm? Have you tried peeling the eggs under running water? This usually makes it much easier. If I have an egg where the shell is starting to stick to the egg, I just go over to the sink and do it under cold running water or in a bowl of cold ice water.

Here is how I make mine:

I place the eggs in a pan in cold water (make sure there is only one layer of eggs).

I then boil it.

When it comes to a boil, I put it down to the lowest heat setting and set the timer for 10-15 minutes.

Then when it is done, I drain it and put the eggs into a cold ice water bath until they cool down and peel them in the bowl/under running water when they are cooler.

I follow this and they always come out great. When the egg sticks to the shell it means the eggs are really fresh. You should cool the eggs and peel under cold running water. There's lots of info on the link.

It may not be you Chat Icon

The fresher the eggs, the easier to peel. If the shells are really giving you a hard time, they may not be very fresh (not bad, but not really fresh).

I put eggs in pot and fill with room temp water. I bring to a boil and let boil for 10 mins and then turn off burner. I let the eggs sit for another 10 minutes in the hot water and then I bring the pot to the sink and run COLD water into the pot until all water in the pot is cold. Then, add ice, TONS of ice. Let sit for 30 mins and then into the fridge.

I follow this as well. Just make sure you dont let them sit for too long, 10-15 minutes is good... I forgot about them once sitting in the hot water and the yolks ended up turning green, yuck!

I'm willing to bet this is your problem. If you can, dump the boiled water they're in and run them under ice cold water for a few minutes. Once they're cool they should peel pretty easily.

And now I'm in the mood for an egg salad sammich!! Bastardos!! Chat Icon
