How did you handle puppy nipping/biting you?
My girl is pretty good when I say a firm NO! and I've noticed if I sit or hide my hands she gets the point more, as opposed to me shaking a finger at her or putting my hands up high (because then she leaps up towards them, thinking it's a game)
Am I doing the right thing? a firm NO and hiding my hands? Any other tips?

absolutely the right thing. It's also helpful (our dog trainer taught us this one) if you get "dramatic" when she tries to nip - like pretend she has hurt you. As you cross your hands make a very loud "ouch" sound, like a dog's "yelp" or as close as you can get to that - and walk away showing your displeasure.
You should also redirect her to a chew toy and she will soon stop. Those little milk teeth are SHARP so you want to encourage bite inhibition as soon as possible!

I agree totally with this! Shammy used to bite at my ankles and feet and when I started yelp sound it stopped him. It took a few times but he got the message.

Yes! Absolutely. Our pit Lucy was VERY mouthy when we first got her. We would tell her firmly "No!" and then turn away from her and not give her any attention.
ETA: We would also then give her something she WAS allowed to chew on.
