Coxsackie?
Has anyone had this?
We were away all last week with our ILs and their kids and SIL contacted me earlier and said she thinks my nephew has this (he has fever and rash).
Before she contacted me, I've felt achey all day haven't had an appetite and felt on the verge of throwing up a few times.
I actually left work early to avoid infecting anyone else if I really am sick.

Re: Coxsackie?
I have heard that it is rare for adults to get it from kids but it is possible. Also, if an adult contracts it, it usually manifests as flu like symtpoms- rather than the blisters that children get.
I am not sure it would make you feel sick to your stomach though- so maybe you are just coming down with a virus?
Either way- feel better!

Re: Coxsackie?
I think my DH just got it from my DD.
DD is 3.5 and had it all last week for sure. 5 days after DD came down with it, DH got a VERY high fever for him (102+), was freezing, chills, fingertips freezing, flu like symptoms for 24-48 hrs, with a very sore throat. Then at 48 hr mark we look in his throat and mouth and we see similar redness and extreme irritation to the inside of his mouth and throat. Well today, day 3 since his fever started, he has a slight rash on ONE of his fingertips and it feels very irritated. These are all less extreme symptoms than my DD had. She had it on both feet, and a slight rash on her hands.
So flu like symptoms was how it started for DH. I think it's safe to say he def had what DD had. She had the fever, flu like symptoms, mouth sores and hand and foot rash that came out days later.

Re: Coxsackie?
Coxsackie stinks as an adult! You can get the ...just as bad as the kids.
It is possible. If it persists go to the doc and tell them you have had exposure. Not much you can do, except take care of yourself as you would any other virus, but you should stay home until your symptoms clear up. Coxsackie is very dangerous to people with certain health conditions and pregnant women, so be sure to stay home until your blisters crust over and/or fever breaks for 24 hrs.

Re: Coxsackie?
Thanks everyone.
I feel a little better this morning and think it was just a stomach virus.
I saw SIL today and she had the same thing.
I think something must be going around though. I heard they actually closed one of the court houses in Jersey yesterday when about 60 people had similar symptoms.

Re: Coxsackie?
UGh I had it my sophomore year in high school! Worst illness I have ever had!
You will KNOW you have it---trust me. I was running a fever on Christmas and woke up then ext day with what felt like a mouth that had exploded. take the pain of a canker sore and multiply it by 1 million. My mouth and tongue were covered. It was awful!
I hope you dont have it!
