DOE Health Benefits
DH's job is being bought out so his current health insurance plan goes away and he gets rehired with the new company's benefits, which stink.
Which plan do you have? Pros? Cons? The list is overwhelming and I am not sure where to go?

DOE Health Benefits
I'm going to be in the minority here and with most DOE teachers out there, but I have HIP (which has actually merged with GHI anyway, so the only choice may be Emblem, as opposed to GHI or HIP, I don't know.)
Anyway, I really like HIP. They sucked back when you could only use the centers, but I have never had a bad doctor since then because many drs take HIP and I've had plenty to choose from. There's an occasional little annoying glitchy things, mostly since the merger, but I have never had a copay. And as I said, my doctors and my daughter's ped are terrific.

Re: DOE Health Benefits
I have had GHI (which is now Emblem) for almost 10 years and have been very happy with the selection of doctors and how everything is run pretty much all along. And the fact that they don't take any money out of our paycheck for this coverage is awesome too!

That's what I had (before FMLA ran out). I was very happy with them!

Re: DOE Health Benefits
I have GHI with the optional rider..it's come in handy at times when I had to use drs. out of plan (ie. at the hospital for my anesthesiologist and DD's dr. at the hospital) and the drs. usually take what the insurance pays them...it's like $15 a month for a family, which is peanuts..

Definitely get the rider! It's unnoticeable what they take out of your check but priceless to have when you need it.

DOE Health Benefits
One of my coworkers was in a major car accident and taken to a hospital that was not in our network (out of town). The rider covers catastrophic events, as well as other things. She had thousands in medical bills because she didn't have the rider.
