Beta blocker, how long to take effect?
Hi everyone, my doc put me on Metoprolol (extended release 25mg once a day) for PVC's and rapid heartbeat.. I took my first dose on Friday night and it worked great, felt no symptoms until it was about time to take it again last night. So I took it last night and was up pretty much all night with bad PVC'S..
Is this a drug that may take a couple days/weeks to take effect?

I do not think it should take long at all but I always had breakthrough palpitations, usually at very random times. Before you were on the meds. did these episodes occer all night like that? They may make you give it 2 weeks then see if you need a different dose or another med.
