I highly recommend the Shark handheld vac for pet hair: http://www.sharkclean.com/Shark-Cordless-Pet-Perfect-2-Hand-Vac/
I have the older model but it works so well! I have an electrolux vacuum which is okay for pet hair but the handheld shark sucks up my dog's hair so easily.

What kind of vacuum cleaner do you have?
I have a Miele Neptune canister vacuum with the turbo brush. It has been replaced by a new model the S6 onyx. I love this vacuum. It does a great job picking up the dog hair.

i had the dyson ball and it was terrible. i just got this vacuum 2 weeks ago and it is FANTASTIC. (and half the price of the dyson)
im addicted to vacuuming now.
