so i think D&C is in the future
i tried to wait and hoped I would handle it naturally, but im pretty sure next week they will tell me to get the procedure.
how long is it? youve suggested I get knocked out, how long are you out for? how painful is it after? how soon before my next AF?
sorry for the questions, but i feel comfortable here

Re: so i think D&C is in the future
I had an in office D&C in December. I was awake for it. While I don't want to go through it again, it was not the most painful thing I have ever done. I'm sorry for your loss :(

the procedure itself is very fast--i think maybe something like 10 minutes? i really would suggest being under anesthesia for it. not so much because of the pain aspect but because of the emotional side. after i had some cramping and bleeding but nothing too alarming. i'm so sorry for your loss :(

i went into the hospital for mine under anestesia. The proedure itself was less than 1/2 hour but I was in reccovery room for about an hour after. I had some bleeding and cramping after but nothing tylenol wouldnt take care of. I had some spotting for the week following, but it was minimal. The procedure itself was not as bad as i anticpated.

I went under for mine & it was done at Good Sam... It was a very long and emotional day- but the procedure itself was fast. Not sure how long I was out for. I woke up in recovery to DH and a nurse. I wouldn't be able to do it awake. I was an emotional mess and had to be given Valium :(
I got AF 5wks to the day of my D&C.
I wasn't in much pain, just some cramping and very minimal bleeding.
I am so sorry you are going through this. Many hugs!

Re: so i think D&C is in the future
I had two, one in December and one in May. For both I went to the hospital and was put out. The procedure itself is pretty quick. For both of them I was in and out of the hospital within 4 hours, including prep-time, procedure, and recovery. I had some slight discomfort for the remainder of the day, but that's about it. No real side effects, except of course the emotional hurt. Also for both I got my period exactly 5 weeks after.

I'm right there with you- I'm waiting for the MC and it's just not happening. I also have a 10 cm cyst on my ovary so right after the D&c I will have to get that removed as well. It's a lot for someone who has never even been to the hospital or broken a bone or anything! I'm pretty terrified. But thanks girls for easing my mind a little about the d&c!
