Camp Tipping (NJ)
So having attended camp on LI my whole childhood I know that tipping the counselors was the norm so now I am in NJ and my kids are in their first year of camp and I haven't heard it mentioned once! I remember guidance being sent home and I have recieved nothing. My kids say that 2 of there counelors finished last week. Not sure what to do. I am thinking it is not customary at this camp. Friday is the last day. I guess I will call the camp. Sorry I am rambling here. Any others experience this?

Re: Camp Tipping (NJ)
Our camp sent a notice home a week before came finished with the recommended guidelines. For the counselors, they recommended $1-$1.50 per day for each counselor. Then everyone else got less. Each of my kids at 3 counselors. I gave each $30 with the exception of one, I gave her $35. My daughter really loved her and she help my daughter so much and was really patient with her. My kids went 5 days a week from 12:30-4, for 7 weeks

Re: Camp Tipping (NJ)
I also received a list of all of the counselors in our group- I'm assuming this is to *hint* to tip. I bought 25$ gift cards for each counselor- it was from 9-1 M-F for 7 weeks. I would still tip even if it was not customary in the town. Tips are really up to you and your opinion of how they served your children. Many I know have not tipped, nor do they want to because they paid enough for the camp itself and all trips were extra$. It's up to you.
