Dr scheduled a c section but now Im not sure why

Baby A is breech so I understand that they wanted a date so that I can be on the scheudle... but the dr chose 37 weeks. Anyone know why the Dr would chose to deliver me that early if I would otherwise go longer?
Is there a reason mutliples SHOULD be delivered earlier than 40 weeks?

Ill call the office Monday but its been bugging me tonight... I kind of just went along with it.

My Dr said that twins full term is 37/38 weeks so they won't let you go to 40. I think it's because the babies just get too big and you will be uncomfortable and they are ready sooner. I was also reading how twins develop quicker and their lungs function quicker because somehow your body knows?

I know they like to deliver twins at 37 weeks. My doc was scheduling me for 38 weeks to give me time for baby b to turn. Luckily he went head down and I delivered naturally at 37w1d.

I wouldn't be upset, it's the norm.

Eta: I was pissed when the doc wanted to schedule a section only because I really wanted a natural delivery

37 weeks is pretty much full term with twins... I had my trio at 36 weeks which is considered full term for triplets....

i think it just bc that is considered full term,that is when we r scheduled for too

when we first saw the doc he said no later than 38,prob do it at 37 and after 32 be on guard

I went to my first MFM/Peri appointment and the Dr. automatically wanted to schedule me for a C-section at 37 weeks. I was dumbfounded. I never planned on having a C-section unless it was necessary for the health, safety, and well-being of my babies. Then me. They obviously come first.
However, since then, I have really made up my mind to stand my ground. Because of prior medical history and issues concerning trauma to the body (without the obvious "prep" of labor pains etc) I had to say "NO". I want my body to be ready when it's ready- unless the babies are in danger.
This has nothing to do with wanting to push, have a natural birth or anything like that. It solely has to do with my health.
I want to see if my body will tell me when it's time. IF baby A is presenting the right way and B is not, they may be able to turn baby B if it's safe. I also uunderstand completely that it could happen that I birth baby A naturally then B has to be an emergency C-section.
I am also aware that if things change, I may need a C-section.

I just can't schedule it, and I haven't. Nor will I. Whatever happens, happens. But at least it was my decision.

(someone get me a ladder. twin preggo getting off of the soapbox isn't easy)

Hmmm not sure. I had a c section with my son so I am choosing to have another even though I have the option of a vaginal delivery if I wanted to. My doctor says he would schedule my c about 10 days early, so that would be about 38 1/2 weeks..37 does seem a little early if everything is going smooth.

Hmm...not sure. All doctors are different.

Mine scheduled my c for 39 weeks. (It was a repeat since I had one with my DS).

I didn't make it that far. Made it to 37w2d when it was decided at a growth sono that Baby A wasn't gaining enough weight anymore and she needed to be delivered to fully thrive.

My OB said he was only scheduling the c-section as a formality since he had no hopes of me making it that far.

That's strange that they would do 37 weeks. My practice would not do it and the hospital would not allow it before 38 weeks. But I was scheduling an induction so maybe that's why.

Of and my baby B flippeattorney vertex at 36 weeks so you never know!

My Doc just told me today about 37 weeks..which due to prior complications from 1st birth was plan even for singleton..but 37 is full term

My dr told me that by law he couldn't schedule an "elective" C-section earlier than 38 weeks. It was my plan to have a C-Section and he didn't think that I would go that long but he couldn't do it earlier unless there was a reason. And there was a reason, I got pre-eclamptic and had my c-section at 35w6d.
