Hiker who left his dog to die story...
DId anyone hear about this story? It made me so upset to hear about it and I am so glad this man relinqiushed custody of his dog. What do you think of this story?

When DH and I first saw this on the news, we were horrified.
We did talk about it and are in agreement that if we were in this person's shoes, and couldn't have carried our kids off the mountain, then we would move all heaven and earth to make sure we got help back to our pups...
I mean, I know for sure that No Freakin way they'd be abandoned for 8 days...
I also know that if it was possible, one of us would have stayed while the other got help...
Even if I thought they were dead by the time I got help, I'd have gone back for them.
I have no words for this guy... other than thank goodness he gave the dog up to someone who had the heart, compassion, guts and courage to help that poor baby.

I still can't get over how you can NOT go back, NOT try to save your dog. How can you leave your dog to die and leave it's body to ROT or get eaten by animals? Thank GOD for these amazing people, and thank GOD one of them wants to give this dog an amazing home I am sure.

I saw this and it made me sick. I don't care how bad those conditions got, you do whatever you can, even if it means leaving the dog and when you get to the bottom you have a search team go back up. I don't even think I would be able to leave my dog but I can understand if he panicked. THe fact that he just left and never mentioned it to anyone makes me sick.
What angers me more is, WHO THE F takes a dog all the way that high and doesn't for a second think about the what if's?
Those pics of that beautiful puppy make me cry. God riddance to his owner, he never deserved him

I remember reading this story last month. He's an idiot. I'm glad the rescuer is adopting that sweet pup.

This man was irresponsible the moment he even thought about bringing a dog ROCK climbing!!! What made him think that the dog would enjoy it? Not get a foot trapped and get injured? A hike is one thing. Rocky terrain and dogs are not a good mix. Idiot!

omg...i keep skipping this post b/c I was afraid i would get upset. But I read it, I look at my lil dog and cry, i could never ever leave him. He is my best friend, this guy makes me sick.
