I think this is a good place to put this..where do you guys by Salmon?

I know it's sort of a weird question, lol, but I've been buying it from the regular supermarket, I just wonder if there is a better place to get it.

Thanks!

Re: Salmon

I get it from Trader Joes and I am very happy with it. If you are near a Whole Foods or a good fish market, I would try there too.

I have no idea where a fish market would be, but they did just open a Trader Joe's near me, would that have Salmon?

Sorry, lol, we never had salmon growing up and I just have no idea where to get it!

Yes, they have fresh and frozen salmon. The fresh is quite good.

Re: Salmon

I usually get the wild...is that bad now too? I can't keep up, lol!

Sometimes it makes me so sad the the food industry ruins everything and makes the consumer spend so much money and do so much research just to eat food that is not going to poison you.

For example, this post....salmon is one of the few animal products I still eat, since I love it, as a treat now and then. I don't have a lot, or even have it often. It just makes me sad that pretty much every food is modified or ruined by the commercial food industry.

Sad. Sad. Sad.

If you have an Asian market, like Hmart near you that would work.

Re: Salmon

I get wild salmon at whole foods. Farmed is fine as long as you limit it to once a week. It's healthy just not as healthy as wildChat Icon

ETA: Robin: here is some info on farmed salmon

I might to write wild- it has to be wild caught

Re: Salmon

I like when people say to me, "I like to eat real food." I eat vegetables and grains, lol. That is real food. My grandmother says this to me all the time, while making Lipton noodle soup, or pouring Hidden Valley Ranch on iceburg lettuce, lol.

The irony kills me. Like you have to go out of your way to eat things that are recognizable foods. 50 years ago, there wasn't a niche market for organic produce or wild salmon....they just called it "vegetables" and "fish."

I knew the wild was best, but I wasn't sure if "fresh caught" was the same or different than "wild"...can't keep up with which label actually means what.

Re: Salmon

what has happened to food in this country is scary and sad

and I don't think the average american even realizes this

GMO crops- food that can resist round up- who would want to eat this if this knew and understood what is going on?

Re: Salmon

It actually is not that simple. I used to work for NOAA and know quite a bit about this. Not all fish raised in aquaculture is bad and not all wild caught fish is good. There are many responsible aquaculture operations. Also, with wild caught you do risk overfishing and issues of sustainability. I like buying seafood at Whole Foods because they seem to do their due diligence on their suppliers.
