Do MOST twins come early?

It seems that way...just wondering what your experiences were. The preemie clothes thread got me thinking...

Do MOST twins come early?

im going to have a scheduled c section at 38 weeks. my high risk doctor said identicals are usually around 36 weeks tho, so i might nto make it.

at 31 weeks i am so done!!! i cant imagine going to 38 weeks based on how i feel already!

statistically most twins come before 37 weeks. Doesnt mean you will definitely go early though.

The majority do because the human body wasn't meant to carry 2 babies at once. When you have two 4 or 5 lb babies your body feels like it's 8 or 10 lbs and you are full term. There is more pressure on your cervix too which can lead to Pre term labor. At 38 weeks, most drs will induce or do a cs because you are considered full term.

Mine did and I started experiencing problems early in the 2nd trimester. I am only 5'0 and it was too much for my body. They were born at 32 weeks, but I am happy to report they just turned 3 and have no long term issues, thank GOD!

I've heard of other people carrying to almost full term though with no issues, jealous of those girls.

I think I read somewhere 50% or more come early. Mine made it to 35w6d. I think by law doctors are not allowed to schedule elective C-sections before 38 weeks but they can easily go around that and do it earlier for any health reasons.
For me they scheduled me at 38w1d but I didn't make it due to pre-E and he called me thursday night and they were born the next day friday morning. My sister's twins were born vaginally at 37 weeks.

From what I've read online most twins do come early for many reasons. Pre-E, space issues, early labor because of the weight on the cervix, etc. I think full term is anything after 37 weeks with twins. I have a c-section scheduled for 38w2d and it seems like I'll make it! Only 1 week to go!

All I know is at 24 weeks..I cannot IMAGINE going to 40..Phew..this is so taxing on the body. My doc. said he will schedule at 37 weeks..even that seems like light years away at this point.

I'll be 34 weeks on Sunday and so far I have not had any serious complications to the babies. My scheduled c is at 38 w 1 day and it feels like lightyears away! I don't know how people do this more than once

I carried by first single ds to 42 weeks exactly. With the twins i started having preterm contractions at 34 weeks. Was in and out of hospitals, had the shots to stop contractions, bedrest... Around 36 weeks started having the symptoms of preeclampsia but the drs wanted me to try to make it to 37 weeks. I had daily monitoring and at 36w6d developed full blown preeclempsia, delivered the twins via csection. They were 6lbs2oz and 5lbs5oz. As for preemie clothes, they only fit into those for a week or 2. They wore nb mostly.

I had an ok pregnancy, lots of morning sickness and uncomfortable, but good till 27 weeks. At 27 weeks I was put on BR for a shortened cervix. It continued to shorten with bed rest. Twin A's water broke at 30w 5 d and they were born that day. Thankfully, I was monitored very closely throughout. I was given steroid shots at 30 weeks after a positive FFN test. We had no complications in the nicu. They just needed to grow and learn to suck/swallow.

i had my identicals at 35 weeks.

My high risk dr said identicals average 35 weeks and faternals 37 weeks.
