royal icing
I am making royal icing. Do I have to use cookie food coloring or can I use icing or chocolate food coloring?

I'm not sure what you mean by cookie vs. icing food coloring. I always use food coloring gels for everything- icing, cookies, fondant, cake batter, etc.
I use Americolor brand or Wilton brand (which you can find at Michael's/AC Moore). Definitely do NOT use the food coloring drops you can buy at the super market.
DON'T use these:
ETA: Chocolate/candy food coloring I only ever use for chocolates.
ETAA: Depending on what color you are dying your royal icing, you may want to make it a little thicker than normal. I find with colors like red and black you need to add a lot of dye which thins it out a little bit.
