Food breakthroughs!!!!
DS is 3 y/o and has a Sensory Processing Disorder with severe oral aversions, a speech delay, and low motor tone... He has been getting speech therapy since 9/2011. He started "feeding therapy" in March of this year. His speech therapist does it... Over the last few weeks, he has been exploring more foods and is on a fruit kick... He started to eat banana's about a month ago. Never gagged once on them!!! This week, he has eaten, clementines, cantaloupe, honeydew, grapes, blueberries, and pineapple... I am so happy!! He use to eat grapes and cantaloupe in early 2011, but it had to be cut up a certain way or he gagged and choked on it.. Now he can eat it any which way... He will eat pancakes on occasion. And he likes some french fries w/ketchup. That is the only solid food he eats. He use to eat gogurt, but stopped right after the hurricane hit...He still has Beech Nut fruit pouches and jarred fruits... I am so happy that he is making progress!!!

Re: Food breakthroughs!!!!
As a mom to a son w/ severe food issues, that is such wonderful news to hear. I hope his therapy continues to make such huge strides. Are they using a behavioral approach or an SOS approach?

Re: Food breakthroughs!!!!
SOS approach... It took a long time, but his therapist is so good with him... He will try almost anything for her now.. I still have difficulty getting him to try something new.. He will smell it or touch it, but will rarely taste it... It feels great to see him eat...We moved to waffles this week...
