Feeding solids- do they compete for food?

Feeding them by myself is exhausting because they both scream when I am feeding the other twin... it gets so bad sometimes, I have to pause before feeding and then the other starts to scream, again! Chat Icon

Has anyone experienced this? What do I do? Any suggestions?

dont pause! lol. it will get better when you switch to finger foods and they start feeding themselves. them screaming for the food is a good sign that they like it! it is just a phase.

it gets better! usually a spoon, plastic toy, or any small distraction would help buy me time to start shoveling the food in! It may also help to feed them a tiny bit earlier so they aren't famished and might be a bit more patient... once they start being able to feed themselves a tiny bit it gets a lottttt easier.

I dont think I ever paused... I would shovel one spoonful in and while baby 1 was swallowing I would shovel a spoonful into baby2, and repeat..and reapeat

I would always use the same spoon and alternate twins, one spoonful for you, one for you/

Michelle, this is what I did... almost six years ago! Same spoon, same bowl, same food. At that age if one has something, the other is going to get it no matter what you do so feeding them at the same time won't hurt.

Feeding solids- do they compete for food?

Haha, oldie but goodie!
I use one bowl, one spoon, they still scream. I am so afraid they're going to choke. MIL says I am starving them Chat Icon

I figured out how to calm them down. They're starving, so first, I feed half a bottle and then I proceed to feed them their solids. We start veggies on Thurs! yay!

I tried feeding my girls before bottles last night 1 by 1 and the second one screamed. I thought putting her in the rnp in the kitchen with us would be a good idea. Silly me lol. I need to put their high chairs together.

This is what I did as well 5 years ago! And I actually sat on the floor with them in their bouncy seats so that it was even easier!
