5 years old.eta at four and a half it can be done, but not anywhere close to being done correctly, i.e. wiyhout marks in their underpants. I think you should be able to consistently expect a five year old to do it properly. With that said, some kids may need more help learning than others. And some can't even reach around well enough until they are five.

I would say around 4 1/2. Sometimes if its really bad, I have to help my 4 1/2 yr old, but my 5 yr old can always handle it by himself!

5, but just for the sake of hygiene, I would do a last "check" until they got the hang of it.

My DS started doing it around 3.5/4 in school when I wasn't there. I would say by 4.5 he could definitely do it very well where I didn't need to check. My DD just turned 3 - she tries and wants to do it by herself but, can't always get everything

We started really practicing the summer before he started kindergarten so 4.5

LOL! Were my kids the only ones still asking to be wiped after age 5? They had a fear of doing it themselves, although I know they knew how to do so before Kindergarten.

DD is 3 1/2 and she can do it well sometimes and horribly other times. I think true independce in that area doesn't start until 4 or 4 1/2.

My son's 4.5 and can do it himself, but not very well. I always have to check it out before he is done. I'm figuring we'll have a crash course in wiping over the summer before he starts kindergarten.

My 7-year old DS still asks for help. As does his 5-year old brother. His 5-year old sister hasn't needed help in a year. Go figure!

I would think be the time they start K, they should be able to since you can't do it for them during school

She has been doing since she turned 3. She won't flush lol so if I goin and check and there is no toilet paper in the bowl, I know she didn't wipe, then I do it. She's very clean and she doesn't want me doingit...she's a " big girl" amd wants to do it herself. Lmao

She has been able to do it since 4 or 5 but at 6 she still asks for moral support here and there . She had a bout of diarrhea that lasted 2 weeks and has a bit of anxiety over getting it again.

So my 5 and 7 year old still ask for help and I still do it.
