2 wk old and pooping alot

My son is 2 weeks old, and on Monday pooped 12 times, tuesday 11, and today has already been up to 8....is this normal...he wasnt going this much in the beginning,...maybe 6 times a day...

He is on nutramigen....quite honestly, I feel he may have a more intense milk allergy and need elecare, but I am not sure when to bring him to the gastro....is 2 weeks to young? should I wait it out a little...it sjust a gut feeling that he has this...ds #2 had to be on elecare, and I just feel like we are headed down the same path

He could also have a soy allergy with the milk protein allergy. My DS had it so bad. He was on Elecare by 5 weeks old. Try and give it another week or so. It can take a while for their intestines to heal and the massive pooping to slow down. If there isn't much of an improvement then, I would have a poopy diaper tested by your pedi...Good luck. DS was on Elecare until he was 15 months old. He is now 17 months and doing ok on milk.

My daughter is 2 weeks old also. She was put on Nutramigen in the hospital because she kept spitting up and not holding down any of the other formulas. (Older brother had reflux and colic-so she was being pro-active). We have been to the pediatrician 3 times already. She poops every diaper change and I saw blood and mucous in her poop (sorry TMI). Her butt was really irritated so we had to wait. The doctor was unsure if the blood was from the formula or if she had a fissure in her butt. So we had to wait. She wound up with a chemical burn from all of the poops. She is being transitioned to Elecare. She is gaining weight, so the doctor is happy.

I would have his poop tested and see what the doctor says.
