Anyone ever had c-diff?
I was recently diagnosed with c-diff. Has anyone had any experience with this? I need some support. I'm finding it very hard to deal with.

Re: Anyone ever had c-diff?
Yes, I had it! I had taken clindamyacin (antibiotic) and developed it. Woke up one morning severely sick and I got dehydrated quickly and kept passing out- was in the ER.
I was given vancamyacin- sp? and I recovered quickly. i am also taking probiotics and will be VERY careful about antibiotics.

Yes I had it. I suffered for a while before finally going to a GI doctor who diagnosed it. I lost 15 lbs in a week and a half. It was awful but once I started the antibiotics I felt better pretty quickly. Feel better

Re: Anyone ever had c-diff?
I got it from taking clindamycin for about a month. I was tested twice but never came back positive although I'm sure that's what it was. I was given Flagyl on and off for 3-4 months and finally it cleared up for good. I lost weight, never felt like eating, missed quite a few days of work, and had trouble getting through simple things like food shopping. I hated the flagyl. It left a terrible taste in my mouth and made me feel like my stomach was filled with rocks. The only thing that helped was lemon juice. I put it on chicken and fish and it as the only thing that cut the taste. I cut out all caffeine and tried to avoid whole grains. Stick to things like chicken, white rice, white bread, and yogurt. It's not fun, but you do what you have to do to live your life and it will eventually get better.

Re: Anyone ever had c-diff?
I just finished my 2nd round of vancomyocin and I still don't feel 100% better. This had been going on for four months before getting diagnosed by my GI dr. I gave birth n February so at first I thought it was my IBS getting worse but it just kept getting worse. I was sick a lot when I was pregnant and on antibiotics 3 times. What probiotics do you take that work for you? I had a colonoscopy last week too because I'm still not feeling great.

Re: Anyone ever had c-diff?
I don't recall the name of my probiotics just now but I would go into GNC or the Vitamin Shoppe and ask for their best ones- usually they require refrigeration.
Can they administer the vancamyacin through an IV? My doctor had mentioned possibly needing to do that if the oral round didn't work.

Re: Anyone ever had c-diff?
Yes after delivering my twins. The first few months were horrible. I won't lie it was almost a year till I was better completely. The antibiotics would make it worse, so it was hard to recover.
The loss of appetite only lasted about 3 weeks, the nausea about the same, maybe a month tops but the diarrhea was just horrible.
It's very difficult, I am so sorry your dealing with it.
