Anyone ever ask for a different Therapist for their child in EI?

Anyone ever ask for a different Therapist for their child in EI? I don't think my son's speech therapist is working out for him, even though it's only a few weeks. I want to give her a chance, but I just don't think she is right for him. I feel bad though because I think she is nice and cares.

How did you go about getting a new therapist?

Just ask your service coordinator with the agency. I went through multiple Speech and OTs before I found ones that clicked with DD.

If it isn't working just switch. I thought the one my ds had wasn't the best with him and I chalked it up to him being diffucult, but once we aged out of EI and he got a new therapist through kids therapy it was so much better.

If there is any doubt switch you are only helping your child - don't worry about hurting their feelings. Kids don't click with everyone.

Yes. I gave the first speech therapist 6 months and in hindsight I wish I had switched sooner. She was very nice, but inexperienced and I didn't see a lot of progress happening. She also did not really develop a good relationship with his daycare teacher, and that is where he was getting speech. After one session with the new therapist, I realized we should have switched sooner.

Yes, we asked for a new ABA therapist through our coordinator.

Yes, and it was the best move I could make for my child! If you are thinking you should, then you should. Listen to your gut. You don't have to be the person to tell them. The agency will take care of it.
