Since I have a DD Who Just Started Kindergarten, I Was Wondering How All of The Other Children Who Just Started Were Doing As Well?

My DD started on Monday, she seemed very out of it at pick-up on Monday. Yesterday she seemed happier and today, she came home lethargic and strange acting and low and behold she vomited! Sick already? Ugh!

I have been asking her questions about her day but she seem uninterested so far to talk about it. I feel like she misses Pre-School a lot.

Anyone care to share how their children are doing?

I'm so happy that so far DS loves it! he says it's "awesome" and tells me about the things he does sporadically (not as soon as he gets home but little by little throughout the evening. He seems very happy. i will say though that he has really been acting up. Today was awful. I think he's just tired and hungry (he's the worst eater) from the new long hours.

My DD is exhausted when she gets home. She gets very weird when tired. I barely get any details out of her. So it's a mystery to me! I know she likes it, but what is actually going on, that I don't know.

Emerson is doing pretty good all things considered. She's really tired when she gets home, it's such a long day for her, but so far she seems to be enjoying it. She likes taking the bus, she likes her teacher, and she's made a few friends too. She's pretty good about telling us about her day but it takes a while and a lot of questions to get it out of her. I'm doing better too.........I didn't even cry today!! Chat Icon

DS loves it. He's generally going to bed a little earlier, but other than that, I haven't noticed any changes. It's hard to get information out of him some days about school, but I'm trying to get him to talk about his day.

My DD loves it but like others said she was exhausted. She was actually asking to go to sleep lol which she never does! Unfortunately she already missed a day because she woke up sick yesterday. But other than that she seems to love it.

My DS is in 2nd grade, but when he was in kindergarten it took him 3-4 weeks to adjust to the longer day. So if you're kids come home exhausted, just give them a snack and some down time. My DS was a beast! But they will adjust in a little bit. We usually got, and still get, more information about his day at dinner time rather then when he first gets home. Best of luck to you and your kids! It's a big year for you all, but you will get through it and be amazed at how far your child comes this year.Chat Icon

Sorry that she is sick already!! You probably do this already, since you are a teacher, but pack hand wipes for her to use before snack and lunch. At our school, no one has them wash their hands before eating (gag). I send in the Purrell single packet wipes (I have a hard time finding them, but Harmon sells them). They are alcohol based ones, and they seem to cut down on the illness. Also up the Vitamin C!

Awe, hope she feel better.

Ajay is exhausted but he is always a kid that needs his naps. Now in Kindergarten he doesnt have naps. I think eventually she will adjust to the time and getting used the routine. Even though Pre-K prepares the student, Kindergarten can be alot different and they need to adjust. My son doesnt ever tell me anything and my niece is like that as well.

As for my son, we are having a rough start but I am working with his teacher and trying to be optimistic and his biggest cheerleader.

Ds loves school, he really likes his teacher. He is tired and doesn't talk all that much until after he comes home and has a snack. He hasn't been eating lunch which is not good. He hates the bus and begs me not to make him go on the bus Chat Icon but he loves school and that is the biggest thing to me.i make him eat a meal when he gets off the bus

He seems to be liking it. I can't wait to meet the teacher next week and I don't even know what she looks like. He likes taking the bus home. It is hard not knowing what is happening for such a large chunk of there day. He doesn't say much and sometimes I wonder if what he is telling me really happened. LOL.
The only thing is he isn't eating much at school. I guess that will change overtime I hope.

For those of you saying you kids aren't eating much, it will get better. They get a shockingly small time to eat. Once they're used to it they will eat more.

DS likes taking the school bus more than anything. I can only get a few tiny details about his day, but I'm not surprised about that.

My Son just says it is "long" and on Tuesday he said it was "kind of fun." This morning DH said he screamed he didn't want to go and ran and hid under his blankets. Oh and homework is "boring." It's going to be a long year!Chat Icon

DS started this past Monday. He loves school once he is there. His teacher has called a few times and said he is adjusting well and has no issues in the classroom. But, out biggest challenge has been the bus. He is throwing it down with HUGE fits about taking the bus. He isn't scared of the bus or having social anxiety. He is just resisting the change of mommy not driving him anymore. So he throws fits at the bus stop and again at the school so mommy has to drive him. We are going to start a sticker chart/reward system with him for Monday and see if that works. So, this past week was exhausting for everyone. DS was asleep by 8pm (which is an hour early) every day this week.

Have you been driving him? My ds is the same, crying and asking me to drive. I haven't given in yet, only bc my DH feels strongly that he should take bus.

It was so sad this morning my DD started crying that nobody sits with her on the bus. Broke my heart. We told her to see how it goes today and my DH will drive her instead. She will still need to take bus home though :(

Sending your child off into the world alone is very hard!

WOOOHOOOOO today was our first day of no tearsChat Icon Chat Icon . He was actually smiling going into school....although I'm not getting to used to it because it will likely change again. Last week was a nightmare of him crying all morning and crying going to school. Once he gets there he's fine so that made me feel better.

Since I have a DD Who Just Started Kindergarten, I Was Wondering How All of The Other Children Who Just Started Were Doing As Well?

So far, Ajay hasnt had any tantrums since last Tuesday. As of last week he had to work on not asking to drink water and go to bathroom evey 5 minutes, as well as not getting upset when the teacher tells him no. He also gets tired in the afternoon, so I had to remind that even though he may be tired he still needs to actively participate in class!

I don't want count my chickens before they hatch, because I never know with this kid. But it seems like he is adjusting! I was so nervous that maybe he wasn't ready. I still going to have him speak to someone since I do notice he gets frustrated and has a temper. Just want to make sure it's not some type a behavioral disorder, even though I strongly believe it was because he was so spoiled in his old daycare. Because he does not act like that at home or with family!

However, I'm excited he is doing a lot better and being resepctful! He seems to really like it and he loves that they have Spanish class lol! Tomorrow is back to school night, so it be good to speak with his teacher!

Today is our first full day after six half-days. Hoping lunchtime went OK for him and that he doesn't fall asleep before dismissal later today. Chat Icon
