Help with TMJ
After going to numerous doctors for ear pain, I finally went to an ENT who said I have TMJ. Has anyone had this and what did you do to treat it? My doctor said to go to my dentist but I cannot go until December.
TIA

Help with TMJ
I have been suffering for over a year now and can't seem to get relief (jaw pain). I went to my dentist, who insisted a night guard was the solution to my pain. $500 later I am still in pain. For whats its worth, I also have Lupus. I'm not sure if the lupus caused the TMJ (since it is a joint disorder) or what, but I have pain DAILY. Its almost unbearable sometimes. I am considering going to my kids orthodontist and getting braces, which is supposed to help, but money is an issue there.
For a while, before the Lupus diagnosis, I was on Cymbalta for pain. During that time, my pain completely ceased. It was like a miracle. But, it had some other side affects and I did not want to be on it for the rest of my like, so I decided to go off and now the pain is back.
Ice and heat alternately does help. Otherise, I don't have much advice since not much has helped me.

Help with TMJ
I have TMJ...The dentist gave me a mouth guard to sleep with. I hated it. It didn't last long. I went back to the dr who gave me a muscle relaxer. That worked...Plus my friend is a physical therapist. He showed me the pressure point to hit when I have a flare up. It hurts, but once you put pressure on the area, it goes away. Let me know if you want more info about it and I can walk you thru it. It works, but it will be uncomfortable for a min or two. Now, i got it down pat, so I use his technique and can end an episode almost immediately...

Please share. I have had a terrible flair up since I went to the dentist for a cleaning lasting.

I would love to know too. I have tried the pressure point tecniques I found online, but none have really done much.
