spinoff to licensed/insured question - does it matter where they are licensed?
what if a contractor is licensed in a different county then where you live? does it matter?
the fact that they are licensed is a good thing...but should i only hire people that are licensed in my county (even if i find another guy that seems good but is only licensed in the next county over)?
we are pretty close the the boundary between two counties, so lots of contractors from the nearby county come up.
any drawbacks in hiring them?
thanks!

This. They should be licensed where they are working.

Licenses and insured are two different things. They are insured in the state they do work. Licensed is something different. Most municipalities require you to be licensed in the area in order to work.
