lower back pain, which doctor?
Who do I see for lower back pain, a chiropractor or an orthopedist? Its my lower back almost to the top of my butt... like a dull aching pain, sometimes it keeps me up at night. I feel like i'm popping advil every day!

I would start by seeing your primary care doc or family doc and then take it from there. Personally, I would never go to a chiro before seeing a medical doctor first.
In the meantime, try using a heating pad and doing some stretching. I too suffer from low back problems, so I feel your pain, no pun intended.

My suggestion: I would make an appointment with an orthopaedist who specializes in the spine. I would never recommend going to a chiropractor before a doctor with new pain that you are unsure of what is causing it. A primary care doc will not be able to diagnose your issues but if you need a referral then go there first. Call the orthopaedist as soon as possible and if you are in pain tell them, otherwise you may be looking at weeks to get an appointment....feel better, I know how unpleasant it is!!

Thank you both so much. My pain was so bad last night I couldn't even sleep and had to pop advils at 4am. It doesn't help that I am constantly bending down to pick up my son (especially getting him from his crib is a killer). I will call the orthopedist today.

ITA, picking DS up from the crib is truly a killer. I actually started using a small step stool to get my DS out of his crib. Seriously, try using a heating pad until you can see a dr.

I've never seen an orthopedic doctor for my lower back pain.
It's managed by seeing my chiropractor.

Ditto! My lower back pain was caused by my hips being misaligned. My chiro fixed me up and I no longer have lower back pain.
