Is there such a thing as a WARM dress coat?
I know the warmest coats are the puffer style, down, etc. But what about for work? I find that every single dressy wool coat I have owned has never been all that warm. They tend to be thin and I tend to freeze my butt off if I have to walk around in the city for work on freezing cold days.
Anyone have a warmer dressy coat? Is cashmere warmer than wool?

Re: Is there such a thing as a WARM dress coat?
I have a warm dressy coat. It's wool. And thick. But very flattering and overall - I love it. I love it so much that I've gotten the lining sewn back together bc i'm terrified i'll never find another. I got it from victoria's secret catalog... I think the brand is Via.
This is the closest match i could find:

I have one from j crew with their thinsulate lining. It's super warm and not thick and bulky at all.

That does look warm! Do you think I could wear it with a dress though? Or like a skirt suit?

Re: Is there such a thing as a WARM dress coat?
I do all the time, sometimes i do look like I am missing my pants under it because it's pretty long and sometimes you can't see my skirt I did get it at Esprit last year but for some reason I can't find the US online store link I feel like the belt & pattern of the quilting makes it more feminine and dressy.

Re: Is there such a thing as a WARM dress coat?
This isn't available anymore but it's a Guess coat I got from Macys last year:
I'm not usually big on double breasted styles but this is very flattering with the color blocking on my pear-shaped body. I walked by last week and saw some similar coats there now.

Re: Is there such a thing as a WARM dress coat?
I think that cashmere is warmer than pure wool, at least that is how I feel with my coats. Cashmere is lighter in weight and softer. I sadly had to give up my cashmere coat after many years of good wearing because the salt splashed up from the sidewalks did irreparable damage.

Re: Is there such a thing as a WARM dress coat?
Mine is from Brooks Brothers - cashmere w/ some kind of extra lining - extremely warm ......
but honestly, when it's freezing and the city is a mess of snow and salt and ice and huge dirty puddles - I commute in my hunters and down coat !! I don't care! I'm NOT about to destroy that cashemre coat that cost a small fortune!
Also, I don't know you feel about fur, but it's dressy, and you see a LOT of women wearing their coats to commute when it's freezing ......supposedly there's nothing warmer.

I just got a wool coat by Kate Spade at TJ Max. It is really heavy and dressy (workish).

I LOVE Via Spiga jackets for the winter. I wear them to work; and on the weekends when going out.
