make ahead desserts

Is there anything I can make ahead that will be fresh?

I'm having a party on a Sunday. We are cooking everything for about 40 people. So we will be busy, especially on Sat. Is there anything that I can make during the day on Fri?

I am going to make a cake, and possibly cookies, and get a fruit platter from Whole foods. Is that enough?

Nothing crazy, just simple desserts.

Yes, fruit platter, any cookies or brownies would work, so would cupcakes really but maybe don't frost them until last minute.

I usually do a variety of cookies and brownie/brownie bar type stuff.

If your family likes dried fruits and nuts you can do that too with some candies.

How about making chocolate covered pretzel sticks, so easy and they will keep great! You can make any kind of ice cream desserts too and keep them in the freezer. If you're really pressed for time, the day of the party you can just throw some Mrs. Smith's pies in the oven and serve with ice cream.
