Nah, not our thing. Doesn't stop them from banging on our door even though all the lights are off.

Re: Do you open your door for trick or treaters?
In NY we would only get a few & they were neighbors so we would. Last few years though we had none! We are in VA now in an apartment complex & they sent out door signs...one side says "Trick or Treaters Welcome" the other side says something like "Sorry, we don't participate" and it came with a letter from management. Thought it was brilliant! We will give out candy from our patio so our dogs don't go insane. I figure it's payback for all the candy I got...haha.

I bought candy for them but I secretly hope I don't get any so I can eat it all myself!
We have a wedding in the early evening,, so yes - I'll give out candy til its time to head out.
Shoot...if it were socially acceptable, I'd be out there banging on doors with them!

Re: Do you open your door for trick or treaters?
Yes! Well, I won't be home until 9:15, but DH will. We always bought candy even when we live din an apartment building.
I love seeing the little kids dressed up--and we are friendly with some of my neighbors, so I like that they come by. I hated that no one did when I lived in a building because I felt like I wasn't participating in the holiday.
My co-op offers a sign to put on your door, so kids only knock where people want to open the door, but you have to go get it & we are never home when the office is open.
We do get a pumpkin for outside & hang up scarecrows--as a kid my mom always told e to only go where there decorations, so I figure other moms say that too.

Yes when we lived in a house on LI - I love Halloween! Now we're in a high rise, doubt we'll get any.

Same! it's so strange, years ago I used to feel like tons of kids came by. But lately, the bell only rings once or twice the entire night.

Re: Do you open your door for trick or treaters?
No. We do get a few, but I am on the second floor and don't feel like walking with my creaky arthritic knees down the stairs to give out candy. Last year's group of bratty kids that came thru were banging on doors and ringing doorbells like crazy. No one answers - my co-op complex is mostly older folks who don't open their doors to strangers and no children live here.
