buying appliances
does anyone know if kitchen appliances (refrigerator, oven/stove, dishwashers etc) go on sale for the holidays - black friday or cyber monday? we are going to redo out kitchen in January and I am trying to figure out if its worth it to get the appliances early
aside from the big box stores (sears, pc richards etc) does anyone have any recommendation for smaller appliance stores in nassau? ive heard customer service/warranties at the big stores are tough to deal with

Re: buying appliances
I always see appliance sales over holidays (even things like Columbus Day and Veterans' Day and Presidents' Day).
As far as smaller appliance stores - We just got a new washing machine from Jay's in Levittown. They were very easy to deal with and were very competitive with prices (price matched the warranty we were offered from one place and then took $100 off that). Customer service was good - delivery was fast and they came on time. They were willing to call me 30 minutes in advance of delivery so I wasn't stuck home for the whole 4 hour window. It was like night and day after dealing with Sears!
Our dishwasher is now not working well. (When one thing breaks, it all goes!), so we are going to go back to Jay's this weekend to get a new one.

Re: buying appliances
Just wanted to point out the post on PC Richards "employee pricing event" going on through Tuesday. I don't have personal experience but the original poster has convinced me to check it out this weekend (and take advantage of the lay away option).
