New to Oil
We just bought a new house that has oil heat (unfortunately...and no gas in the area to convert). I grew up in a house with natural gas and our house before also had natural gas. We just got a brand new oil tank delivered yesterday so now we need to get a fill up.
Do I just call up oil companies to price shop? I'm clueless. Thanks!
Any companies you suggest or that I should avoid?

Yep, start pricing them out. I think there's a website, but I don't remember it. Decide if you want a service contract or not. That will ensure someone from the oil company comes 24/7 if something goes wrong. If you do COD then you'll need to keep an eye on your oil levels and call someone to deliver when you need it.
We locked in for a year with Slomins. We paid something like $130 for the service contract and locked in $3.49 per gallon for the oil.

Re: New to Oil
I used to use codfuel; until I found discount-fuel.com.
They are ALWAYS cheaper than any of the oil companies listed on COD. And if you "like" them on FB, you get $10 off any order.
Here are their prices as of today:
Gallons Price/Gallon 25.0-49.9 $4.539 50.0-74.9 $3.539 75.0-99.9 $3.359 100.0-149.9 $3.259 150.0-199.9 $3.239 200.0-249.9 $3.189 250.0-299.9 $3.185 300.0-399.9 $3.179 400.0-499.9 $3.179 500.0-999.9 $3.159

Thank you! I actually got it for a penny cheaper per gallon than listed above. I'll be sure to compare with this website when we need a fill up again...and get the FB coupon
