5 year old - constant urge to urinate
Help! My 5 yo DS constantly feels like he has to go to the bathroom. He will pee, and then 5 minutes later he is runnung to the bathroom again - but does not actually go since he just went a few minutes before.
He gets very upset about this.
I'm also notching that he seems to be having a similar issue with bm. He will sit on the toilet for so long, even after he has done something, because he feels like he has to do more and he doesn't want to have an accident.
Anyone know what is going on? I am calling dr in the morning.
No fever, he is not complaining of any pain, just the feeling that he has to go. Something is telling me maybe he is feeling stressed about something? Will call ped, but just wondering if anyone has any insight.

 sounds like a UTI I would get a culture to be safe. As far as the other constipation could cause the other issue.

It could also be something like pollakiuria, also called frequent daytime urination syndrome. DS did this for like 2 days and I was convinced he had a UTI. Took him to the ped and he didn't and the ped mentioning that it could be the above. Went away on it's own. We made sure not to draw attention to the issue.

Thanks! Dr said could be constipation...
for now we have him drinking lots of fluids ( realized that he has been drinking a lot less since startling kindergarten). And we are trying to make it no big deal.

Constipation can lead to a UTI. Seems like that's what it is.
