Those with MTHFR hetero
I have MTHFR hetero A222V/E428A I was put on folguard in addition to my prenatal. Is this enough? I know many girls are on metanex and lovanox but the RE who diagnosed me said all I need is more folic acid. I am worried bc folguard has synthetic folic acid and I am not sure I am breaking it down properly.
My current RE has been monitoring my homocysteine levels since I showed her the diagnosis. I just want to be sure I am getting the best treatment bc both sides of my family have horrible heart disease leading to widow makers. My Dad is the first person in his entire family to reach 60. Any input?

Re: Those with MTHFR hetero
I have heterozygous mthfr and take metanx even not pregnant. It's basically a form of folic acid that's easier to absorb.

Re: Those with MTHFR hetero
I have MTHFR, at first my RE had me on extra folic acid but then switched it over to metanx because my body is unable to break down the folic acid. I'm taking the generic version of it called foltanx.
Unrelated to MTHFR, but Are you also taking progesterone suppositories?

I think I will ask my RE for a metanx prescription. Yes, also on prog suppositories.. why?

Just wanted to make sure it was part of your medicine protocol. I was on prog suppositories as well (recently stopped) .

Re: Those with MTHFR hetero
I have 2 copies of MTHFR. My RI put me on Metanx, but I lapsed with her and CCRM picked up where she left off with Folgard (sp?) instead. Honestly, IDK enough about the difference between the 2 to have a preference, but I trust my doc.
I had done Lovenox for a few cycles, but it wasn't for the MTHFR. I had another thrombo gene mutation they were worried about and high blood vessel resistance in my uterine doppler.
