What pancake mix do you use (box or scratch)

What do you use to flip pancakes? do they make an ultra thin flipper?

What vegetable peeler do you use?

1) Pancakes - I do both but I like from scratch better. The box ones come out too dense and heavy OR to blah and flavorless.

2) I just use a regular nylon spatula, nothing special.

3) I have the one from Kohls made by Food Network, works great! I also have one by Kitchen Aid that is good too.

I usually do mix for ease - they make one that you just need to add water (I think bisquik brand) and I will doctor it up by adding in lemon or orange zest, spices, etc.

I have a thin oxo spatula... the flipper part is a little flexible, it's really thin

I use an oxo peeler. I think the Y peelers work better.

For pancakes I usually use the original bisquick in the yellow box and follow the ultimate or supreme recipe. I also love to add banana and some mini chocolate chips!

I have a lot of cheap plastic spatulas and use whichever. As long as you have a good nonstick pan or griddle and grease or spray it you should be fine.

Love my swissmar peelers. They come in a 3 piece set from william sonoma and are super sharp and quick.

Bisquick light or Cracker Barrel pancake mix.

Oxo spatula, which is pretty thin.

Oxo and Kitchenaid peelers. They both work equally well, but I tend to use the Oxo more because the blade part can be pulled down into the handle, so there's no risk of cutting yourself when you reach for it and I don't have to worry about a cover for it.

Pancakes mostly from scratch but if I ever use a mix its the Stonewall Kitchen Pancake mix in a can.

I use a regular plastic spatula to flip them.

My peeler is the one made by Food Network and I love it.

I use the add water/shake ones. We don't eat them a lot so I don't like keeping a big box open.

If they are ready to flip, any spatula should do. If you want, look for a fish spatula. It's thin and floppy so it should get in there easily.

Re: A few random kitchen questions

What pancake mix do you use (box or scratch): Scratch - About 1 cup flour, 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp baking powder, pinch of salt, 2 Tbsp melted butter, 1 cup buttermilk, 1 egg. Mix melted butter into buttermilk and then whisk in egg. Add wet mixture to dry and stir until incorporated and smooth.

What do you use to flip pancakes? do they make an ultra thin flipper?

I use a fish slice - which is an ultra thin spatula that I find gives me greater control. It is metal - so I use a stainless pan rather than non-stick.

What vegetable peeler do you use?

I have an OXO Swivel Peeler and a Y peeler by Swissmeister.

I like the aunt jemima buttermilk mix. I grew up on it so I guess that's what I'm used to.

I have a wide and round oxo spatula.

Also use oxo peelers

Currently I use Target brand mix.
I like that you only need to add water!

I sell Pampered Chef so I use spatulas and peelers made by them.
I have a ton of their kitchen tools. Many are the same price or less then the OXO brand you find at BBB and everything I have works and holds up so much better then anything I've used before. Chat Icon
