Flea question
Thoughts?
- As per my other post, we are fostering a dog. When the rescue dropped her off, I bathed and brushed her and found a dead flea and she had the flea dirt. The next morning , brushed her with flea comb and found a live flea. Flea dipped her and gave her a treatment that is supposed to kill fleas. (Also been vacuuming like crazy)
Today while brushing her I found another live flea. No flea dirt. Went over her a bunch more times with flea comb and found nothing else.
Did this flea somehow survive BOTH treatments? My first thought was that they are in the carpeting but, I find that hard to believe since she doesn't have a crazy infestation and has only been here since Monday night. I don't know what to think. All of my other animals are up to date with their preventative EXCEPT my indoor cat. I have never treated her, but did just tonight as a precaution.
Sorry so long !!

Re: Flea question
I think fleas can, sometimes anyway, be pesky little critters. We've had similar situations here in the past, and we found the Victor Flea Trap to be the only formidable solution to the fleas.
I would recommend purchasing that and continuing to brush her for new fleas. Is she a large dog? Is it possible that you may have missed a flea on the first try?

Re: Flea question
Did he/she come with any bedding, etc? that the flea may have traveled in? Also, if you dipped the dog, I would think you left the head unsubmerged, so maybe it was on the head, and 3) dipping doesn't kill eggs or larva I would think, so maybe a new egg/larva hatched? Your cat absolutely needs to be treated.

true , I didn't submerge her head. I found an all natural way to kill eggs. Cover the rugs with baking soda and salt - it dehydrates them. So when the kids go to bed tonight , I'm going to cover the 2 main rugs where she has been sleeping . I am going to constantly brush her with the flea come too and bathe her in Dawn dishwashing soap tonight, I used that on my cat when I first got her.

Re: Flea question
So I haven't checked her with the flea comb since last night. I just checked her and found nothing, not even flea dirt. I am hoping I am in the clear. Will still take precautions.
I hate fleas! I'm really dreading that they are in my carpets, and the vacuum didn't get them or they are in spots I missed. I'm kinda feaking out! But if all of my animals have the on spot treatment - they would die off, no?

Flea question
It can take weeks or months to fully get rid of fleas. Since you bathed her and the fleas weren't jumping off it probably isn;t an infestation but just keep vacuuming and bathe once a week. I would give a frontline type of medication.
