nassau county star question
dh and i just closed on a house (a week ago).
Everything i am reading online says that the deadline to apply for star was Jan 2nd so we cannot get it for this year; but DH has been told otherwise by someone that was involved in the buying process (not sure if it was the realtor, mortgage broker, or what). Ive tried calling the one number i find online but cant get through to a person
anyone have any knowledge about start when buying a new house? or a phone number for nassau county that will give me a real person??

You will not get it for this year. You can apply anytime so you get it for next year. It just has to be by Jan 2 of 2015

You won't get it for this year. BUT if the previous homeowner has the STAR discount, it might still reflect in your taxes for this year. This was the case for us when we bought our home in 2008. Apply now for the 2015 deadline so you don't forget.

Correct! Same for us when we bought in 2007. We just had to show proof of residency so we hustled to get our new licenses with our new address so we could mail that in as proof. Do it now so you don't have any worries.
