3D mammograms

I am going to get a mammogram in a few weeks and not sure if facility offers this. Anyone who gets a mammogram, do you get 3D? I was just reading up on it and not sure if I should go to a place that does this.

Re: 3D mammograms

I had my first Mammo last year and my Dr. recommended getting the 3D. They just see more with it. According to friends who've had both, they said the actual test is no different. It's just the images are clearer.

I don't think my facility I have been going to offers it, Carol Baldwin Breast Center in Stony Brook.

Re: 3D mammograms

check if your insurance covers 3-D.

NRAD offers it, I get the regular mammo and also a sono for dense breasts.
Might ask my doctor what she thinks for next year.

They may have it. Give a call. I went to Zwanger. I know Good Sam Has it as well

I am getting a regular mammo and sono too for dense breasts. I just didn't know if I needed 3D and never thought to bring it up until I was reading a few articles.

I just looked at Carol Baldwin Center website and Stony Brook University website and no mention of 3D. I see all other places mention it on their website. That concerns me they may not offer it. I will mention this to my dr.

3D mammograms

I did it throught Zwanger. My insurance didn't cover it, but it was the baseline and I wanted to be thorough. I had to pay $50 for it.

Re: 3D mammograms

I also have dense breasts and with the 3-D there was no need for sono. They told me not to be alarmed if I got a call asking to come back for a sono bc of how dense they were, but with the 3-D, they saw everything.

Re: 3D mammograms

I have dense breasts and had a 3D. I wasn't sure about it but felt it was good for my baseline. I still had a sono though and have to go back in 6 mths vs a year due to something they saw that was not cancer but not normal either.

Re: 3D mammograms

I had a 3d mammo because of Dense breasts and it didnt show nothing.. I also had a sono done because of pain in the left breast..Well that found Nodules that had to be tested. Im lucky the are benign. But if they were not the 3D mammogram would not have seen them.

Re: 3D mammograms

I opted out of doing the 3D, but had to go back due to spots seen. After a few more times they finally had to do the 3D to get a clearer reading.
