freezing pancakes??
I made some extra pancakes today and have no one to eat them.
Can I freeze them? Does it matter if they have peanut butter in them?
How do I unfreeze them after? just put them in the toaster? microwave?

freezing pancakes??
I freeze them all the time. I put them in a ziploc freezer bag with parchment paper between them and pull out one or two for DD's breakfast. I microwave them on a slightly lower setting until they're heated through and they come out great. I don't think pb will cause an issue at all, I've frozen all kinds.

I haven't frozen pancakes but I have frozen waffles and french toast. I have always just put it frozen right into the toaster. Worked fine. I would not defrost, I think it will get mushy.

They are no different then the frozen pancakes/waffles in the supermarket. I saw an episode of The Chew where they were showing ways to save money on common grocery purchases one of them being frozen waffles/pancakes. Just make your own batch and freeze them in a freezer bag.

Yep they're fine. 1x a week, I batch cook them for the kids and freeze them wrapped in foil then a freezer bag.

This.
I ALWAYS freeze the extras. My kids love them and I'd rather them eat homemade pancakes than the prepackaged crap ones.

I make extra when I make homemade and freeze for the kids since they prefer homemade. I put them in a freezer Ziploc with wax paper in between them. I reheat in the microwave covered with a slightly wet paper towel to keep them moist for about a minute (I have a stinky microwave - low watts so time will depend on what you have).

To the OP, glad you froze them. When my mom makes pancakes or I make some from scratch I freeze the leftovers. Makes for a quick breakfast on the days DS has preschool. I like to wrap the pancake in a wet paper towel and warm it up in a pan. Takes just 2-3 minutes (have to watch that the paper doesn't dry out) and the pancake stays moist and tastes fresh.

Yes, definitely freeze them! I make a double batch and then freeze them so the nanny can give them to DS during the week. I freeze them in a ziploc container with parchment paper in between the servings. Then just put them in the fridge overnight or right into the microwave to defrost. Simple and quick!

Thanks for the tip. I usually don't like next day pancakes because the texture is not the same. I will try this.

Yup--pre-kids, I would have chucked them.
Now, its good to have a favorite homemade breakfast on hand for mornings when I don't have time to whip up a fresh batch! (aka every weekday morning!)

I always throw mine in the toaster. I hate that they get rubbery in the microwave.
I have a defrost setting, so I typically use that and then the toast setting after. Before I had this toaster, I would just toast on low 2x giving the inside time to defrost without burning the outside. I make hearty pancakes with pumpkin though, so lighter ones may not need the extra time.

I make a huge batch every Sunday and freeze them for the week for my DS. I keep them in ziplocs and just pop them in the microwave for a couple of seconds and they are perfect.
