boiler/chimney help

DH turned on our heat sunday and there was black smoke in our basement and also coming out of our boiler chimney flue.
we are moving in on thursday and have no idea who to call

we were told it could be either an adjustment needed on the boiler, or it could be something in our boiler flue (we had our chimney looked at a month ago and it was fine, but the chimney cap was loose and managed to come off one day so theres a chance something got in there while it was open).

any who to call that would service both the boiler and the chimney? we dont want to spend money to have a boiler repair person come and say its not boiler related, and have to then pay the chimney people (or vice versa)

any recommendations are welcome

Re: boiler/chimney help

hard call…could be either. I would start with a chimney person to be honest.

Re: boiler/chimney help

Since DH is not available at the moment to ask, I say I would call the boiler people first and explain what is happening and see if they can give you their thoughts over the phone, then go from there.

Hi - please FM me if you need a good chimney company. There are a lot out there that really do not play nicely and I had a great experience with one that I can recommend. I know they cover our area. Chat Icon
