Bottles/Breast Feeding & Pumping

I am finishing up my registry:

I am planning to breast feed & pump when I go back to work.

can you ladies share what you selected for bottles on your registries? How many, and what sizes?

We started off withthe breastflow starter pack. Supposed to be similar to the breast. But, babies can be picky so I would just start small and buy more once you see if baby likes it. Or register for samplers of a few kinds. Once we saw he liked them I bought more. I also had a medala pump and pumped into bottles. I highly recommend getting extra pump parts so you can bring home your dirty, swap for a new set, etc. I also pumped into medala bottles and bought a set of 8oz bottles because sometimes I got 5-6oz from my super boob and didnt want the bottle size to limit meChat Icon

I agree with PP regarding bottles. Definitely get the medela pump wipes. They were so convenient when I was pumping at work so I didn't have to bring all of the parts into the communal kitchen.

I exclusively pump. I have a medela PISA for work and a medela Symphony that i rent for home. I have 2 sets of pump parts so I always have one set clean. I pump into regular medela bottles. We use playtex ventaire bottles to feed and transfer the milk from the medela bottles and vials into those when it's time for a bottle.

Eta: I bring my pump parts to work every day in a small cooler bag and when I'm done pumping, I put the pump parts and the milk in the cooler and just put the whole thing in the mini fridge at work. That way I don't have to bother cleaning them in between pumps at work.

Re: Bottles/Breast Feeding & Pumping

DD is only 5 weeks so I haven't been pumping long & she rarely gets a bottle. We've tried a few different bottles that are all marketed toward breastfed babies…

Joovy Boob bottles: the nipple is really big/long and milk would spill out of DD's mouth. I feel like the flow was very fast too, even though it was the slowest flow nipple.

Avent Natural: got free ones in the sample packages from Motherhood Maternity. Same nipple issues as above.

Lansinoh mOmma: This seems to be working the best so far. The nipple is smaller and when you turn the bottle upside down, milk doesn't just come out, the baby actually has to suck to get it out.

I have a Hygeia pump. I pump into the bottles that came with the pump then transfer into Kiinde Twist bags. I have the whole Kiinde set and it comes with a pump adapter so I can pump right into the bags, which attaches to a bottle to feed right from the bag, but I haven't attempted to use it yet.
