Chia seeds

They really only need a few minutes to soak. I usually wait about 15 minutes. I put them in almond milk, wait the 15, and by then, they've become gelatinous enough to consume.

Re: Chia seeds

I think this might explain it for you. Was the pudding eggless? Baking is a science they say so if it's replacing the egg and not just an addition... here read this...

"Chia seed contains a wealth of fiber—5 grams in just one tablespoon. It is the fiber in chia that causes chia seed to swell when combined with water, creating chia gel. Whether you eat chia gel or just the raw seeds, the hydrophilic action of chia seed will keep you full longer than many other seeds. Amazingly, chia gel can also be used as a substitute for eggs in many baked goods. Use a proportion of 1 to 6 ratio of Chia Seeds to Water to make chia gel. Use approximately one tablespoon of chia gel to replace one large egg in your baked goods."

Re: Chia seeds

I put 2 tablespoons in 2cups of almond milk with a drop of almond extract at night and we have chia pudding in the morning. It also helped when I was getting up at 2am with my DD - I'd grab a spoon full instead of mindlessly snacking.
About the smoothies - I found that I really don't like the taste when they are "pulverized" by the blender so I stir them in at the end.

I think any of the big supermarkets will have them these days. Bob's Red Mill makes them so I always check with their stuff.

I only soak them in pudding. With smoothies, I just throw them in the blender after everything else is smooth.

Stop and Shop has them on the organic food aisle. Trader Joe's has it near the cereal.

I soak them overnight in water so they form into gelatin. I then fill ice cube trays with the gelatin and freeze. I use them as my ice cubes for smoothies. In salads I just throw them in raw.
