Do wooden blinds make a room darker?
I'm looking for window treatments that provide the most light, but I read about them darkening a room which I DO NOT WANT.

A wooden slat won't let any light through, since it's wood. A plastic slat is much thinner, and made of plastic, so it lets some light through.
Absolutely anything over the window technically makes the room darker, even a clear sheet of plastic.

I guess that's why my house is so dark when the blinds are down 
I have them in my whole house, they were there when we bought. I don't mind them but the first thing I do every morning is open them all up, then DH closes them on me

Yes when the blinds are down and closed, they darken the room.

We have wooden in our dining room and we leave them at half way so the room is still somewhat bright

Do wooden blinds make a room darker?
I have white wood on the first floor and it darkens thing but not a ton. My neighbor has dark brown wood blinds and it really darkens the rooms. It's depressing to me bc her walls are also dark.
