IUI timing

Sorry for all the questions, but its been awhile sin e we TTC my DD and its like this is all news to me.
Went to the RE today, had one follie at 19 and two at 15. She said we would most likely do the iui on Thursday. I'm just waiting for her to call me back to take the ovidrel. Does the iui in Thursday, around 8am sound right?
Also, this may sound stupid, but, if I trigger tonight, do the follies keep growing or do they stop at whatever size they are? And is it possible that more than one follicle will be released?

Re: IUI timing

If you trigger tonight then Tuesday morning would be 36 hours after trigger which is ideal for IUI. The ovidrel will make you release all mature follies. And yes they can continue to grow after trigger.

Good luck!

All will release, all may not be mature, or fertilize. To put it into perspective: my friend released two, got bfp with twins. I released 8, 4 cycles in a row, and got bfp with one (and m/c with one, two times)

So you never know

Thanks ladies, according to this nurse, she said only one follicle will release, no matter what. And that the follicles stop growing after you trigger. Apparently, I will take what she says with a grain of salt from now on. I would have thought that LI IVF would make sure their nurses are better informed.

Do you go in Brooklyn? My nurses in lake success were phenomenal. I'm sorry she sucks :(

She might be right about stoppage of growth.

However, for each of my cycles that I had 8 follies, I had to give verbal consent that I understood risks for multiples and awareness of selective reduction with both the nurse AND dr. They wouldn't do that if triggering only released one.

No, no, no! The trigger gives your eggs a last little push, helping them to fully mature and then to O. It will still grow after trigger.

And your body will release all follicles. The follies may not all have mature eggs, but they will all release. That's the point of the trigger.

yes, i go to the one in Brooklyn. Its easier for me to leave my DD with DH in the morning for monitoring since I have no one else to watch her to go into Manhattan to see a RE there. I had asked her about triggering since she said i had 3 follicles and she said if i had had more than 3 that the Dr. would have canceled the cycle because of the risk of multiples. I guess your Dr. thought differently. I can't say because I can't imagine actually having more than one even if i did have more than one follicle ready. lol.
