Leftover Tissue After D&C :(
I had a D&C on 12/23. RE was checking my beta on a weekly basis after that. On 1/21 my beta was 16 and the next day my period started. Felt like a normal period with a little bit of clotting. Went in today for another beta check (since they want it to be negative) and also had a saline sono. Sono started off so good, everything looked clear. Then she got to the right side of my uterus and you could see all this stuff (for lack of a better word) in there :(.
She said it could be leftover placenta or scarring tissue she's not sure. She wants to see if it will come out with my next period and then we'll do another saline sono and if it's still there I'll have to go under again for them to scrape it out. I have to take this medication as of cycle day 3 of my period which I think she said keeps my lining thin if I do have to have surgery again so they only scrape out the bad stuff and don't mess with anything else.
I'm so bummed to delay trying again. All the testing from the miscarriage came back normal and they said we could do another iui the next cycle as long as my beta and saline sono were negative. I'm so sad :(.
Anyone experience leftover tissue and have to go back under to take it out? I think I've heard of this, is it somewhat common? Any idea why they aren't able to get everything out the first time? :(

Re: Leftover Tissue After D&C :(
I'm sorry I have had 2 d&cs and I bet this is much more common than people know, since most people aren't getting regular beta checks and saline sonos. After both of my d&cs my subsequent periods were regular, but a little clotty (small clots). It's so frustrating, I know, but hang in there.

Re: Leftover Tissue After D&C :(
I had this happen. My second MC, also after IUI, at 7 weeks and I was sent for a D and C because my body wasnt passing it on its own.3 weeks later I had not stopped bleeding and it got worse with cramping. Went up to the ER (which was a whole other horror story)and they found a tiny amount of left over tissue. I was told it was not very common but does happen from time to time. They try hard to be delicate so they don't damage anything and don't cause scarring so sometimes, it happens for a lack of better words. The left over tissue was a fraction of a size of a small pea. I recovered quickly physically afterwards. My first period was a bit rough. Mentally I had enough and started taking meds for the anxiety. It was like reliving it all over again. I don't think your period starts until a few weeks after you hit 0, at least thats what I was told, but I could be wrong. It's possible your body was trying to pass it? I know how hard it is. Hang in there.

Leftover Tissue After D&C :(
I am so sorry :( Totally sucks when all you want to do is get back to TTC. Its so hard not to have any control over what our bodies are going though. I hope that the left over tissue resolves itself soon on its own, and you dont have to go back through another procedure. Just before I finally got AF after my D&C, I passed an extremely large piece of tissue or something (it was like the tissue needed to pass before AF could resume - freaked me out actually), so I guess left over is relatively common??? but it SUCKS. Hoping it happens soon for you.

Re: Leftover Tissue After D&C :(
Thank you for your responses and support, I appreciate it!
I was trying to be so strong during the appointment and then the tears just broke loose. The RE was very kind and understanding that she knew I was hoping to get to try again real soon. It's so hard . And as happy as I am for other people (I truly am), the next two weekends we have first birthday parties for friends/family and I'm just like blah. Also, work has been so stressful and overwhelming lately and I so badly wish I could still have that beautiful thought that I'm leaving soon to have our healthy baby. Makes it so much harder. Someday it will all make sense I guess....Thanks for hearing me out!

Re: Leftover Tissue After D&C :(
I'm sorry you're dealing with this. It's hard enough to have the loss happen in the first place, it's like when is it enough already?! At least with a repeat D & C you'll know this time your hormones are down already so it's really "over" when the procedure is over.
