did anyone have the tissue tested after a D&C?
How long did the results take to come back? My drs office called me this morning and asked me to come in. At first I thought they want to test my hormone level but the receptionist said the dr wants to talk with me. I'm really nervous that something is wrong.

Re: did anyone have the tissue tested after a D&C?
I did and the results were a normal girl. The results took about 1 month but I think they usually take 2 or 3 weeks. At first I thought that was a good thing but it's really not because I have no answer as to why my miscarriage happened. Most happen because of a chromosome abnormality and are not likely to occur again. In my case it could be a fluke or there could be something with my body that caused it and if that is the case there is risk it will keep happening again.
I had a consult with a specialist and he is having me tested for progesterone and antibody/clotting disorders. He doesn't feel the need to wait and see if I miscarry again to do these tests since I had the genetic testing and it came back normal. I'm glad I am having these extra tests but I'm nervous and little more worried about the outcome of the next pregnancy.

I'm back! Everything is fine, well they haven't rec'd the results of the tissue yet so I don't know about that. I was in the ER this week for something unrelated so she wanted to take a look to make sure there was no infection. Thanks to all of you who responded to this thread.

Re: did anyone have the tissue tested after a D&C?
I had it tested. they never told me the sex.
the dr's office said they would call me with the results and it could take up to 6 weeks.
I gave them 8 weeks and then called them. The results had been in for some time... so I found out 2 months later.
I didn't care much for that dr office.

Me too. I opted not to find out the sex (I was 10 wks). Mine was a genetic abnormality; triploidy. The baby had 69 chromosomes instead of 46 (an extra set of 23). It wa bittersweet to find out. I don't know what's worse. Hearing what was wrong or finding out nothing was wrong.

Re: did anyone have the tissue tested after a D&C?
I miscarried at 8 weeks, I wanted the tissue tested and they DIDN'T! at the time I was so angry and disappointed that they didn't.....I really wanted to find out WHY it happened to me, I wanted to feel like it wasn't my fault, but in some ways I guess I can be grateful they didn't test the tissue, what if they would have told me everything was "normal"? I would have blamed myself even more, honestly while it may seem that testing can provide some closure it can also add more emotional torture of "what if's".....at least for me it might have anyway......

That can go both ways bc we found out ours had a chromosomal abnormality and we are like who/why did we create this abnormality. The word "fluke" doesnt seem to help Either way just sux! I found out both pieces of info and not knowing would have made me really sad but knowing all that info made me sad too. Either wat the results go you have to live with the info...KWIM

Re: did anyone have the tissue tested after a D&C?
It did take about a month to get the results back. The first D&C - they said the tissue was inconclusive and they weren't sure if the tissue they got was embryo tissue or mine because it was female with normal chromosomes.
The second one - I was just about 12 weeks - baby measured at 11 weeks - the doctor told me "he" had downs syndrome. However, they do not know if that was the reason the heartbeat stopped - it could've been, it also could've been that I was started on the Lovenox too late into the pregnancy and there was/were tiny bloodclots...I'll never know. I knew it was a boy though, from the moment I got pregnant, I knew, and I insisted to DH it was a boy and would not entertain the discussion of any girls names because I knew. So yes, he had a name already too, I would lay in bed and talk to him when I was still pregnant and call him by his name.
I've been thinking about his baby alot lately too. He would've been 2 last November. It stinks all around, but when you see an RE to get pregnant, I was getting sonos, sometimes 1-2x a week, because I had ectopic pregnancies and m/c's before this one. The last one I had was at 11 weeks, there was a heartbeat, everything "looked great". The RE even did close ups, I could see his nose and the outline of his face...I went in for my Level 1 at 12 weeks and no heartbeat.
It still totally sux even after all this time.

Thank you. I'm usually ok about it now, but it feels like everyone I know is pregnant now and I"m the only one who isn"t going to have a baby, so I've been having a harder time the past few weeks.
