Help me out- Hard Boiled Eggs

How do you manage to cook hard boiled eggs so that the shells peel easily?

Lately, my eggs have been so hard to peel that i lose half the egg white in the peeling process.

The shells just stick to the egg so badly they are impossible to get off without taking off a lot of the egg itself.

I am assuming I am cooking them wrong or cooling them wrong or something.

Anyone know the trick?

Bake them!! It is SO easy.

I will never boil them again.

Put them in a muffin tin at 325 for 30 minutes, then submerge in an ice bath for 10 minutes or so.

The shells will slip right off and it makes the perfect hard boiled egg.

I peel them under running water while the eggs are still warm. Shells usually come right off.

After they are done cooking, I pour in cold water and let them sit for an additional 10 minutes in the cold water.

Since I've started doing that, I haven't had an issue peeling them.

I do run them under cold water right after cooking but don't let them sit for 10 min I will try that.

And I am also intrigued by the baking thing.
I have to try that next too!

I peel them when they are still a bit warm. If I let them cool completely then it's so hard to get the shells off.

I do this and also add a pinch of salt to the boiling water while the eggs are cooking.

Growing up, my mother used to add vinegar to the water. I don't know why or what it did. I think she told me it was to keep the eggs from cracking, but I don't do it anymore.

older eggs work better.

I have heard vinegar or baking soda help too.

Re: Help me out- Hard Boiled Eggs

I used to have the same issue and I googled and found this trick that helped me. I fill the pot I boiled the eggs in with cold ice water. I roll the egg on the counter until the entire shell is cracked and then place it back in the ice water for 5 minutes. When the 5 minutes are up the shell will peel right off.

I bang them on the counter and roll them around so the shell is cracked in a bunch of tiny pieces and they usually peel right off
