Spinoff to the things no one tells you.

I also had an easy C-section recovery, I'm very lucky. Your favorite thing to do may be taking pictures of your baby, my poor kid probably hates cameras. lol

I agree that all of the posts that say you feel like Superwoman are completely true! As someone else said, it is childbirth after all, and a lot of it is hard and scary and unlike anything you will ever do in your life.

And when you come out on the other side, with your beautiful baby and your amazing story to tell, you will feel nothing less than heroic Chat Icon

Not all childbirth is hard and scary.

My labor and delivery was pretty easy - and I had zero drugs.

Recovery from c section has been a piece of cake. Incision was very small and super low.

You're baby WILL know you and bond with you even if you do not get to do skin to skin right away.

I think the word pain for most of us makes us nervous or scares us and it is a negative association. Let me help clarify this to say pain in a good way. some of us have tattoos or piecings or even getting waxed in sensitive parts and all that pain sucks. BUT you happily subject yourself to it because of the end results are so awesome, which is why so many of us go back for more. all the morning sickness and heartburn and child birth no big deal when you know the end result of what your getting. Being nervous is normal but go in knowing that yes some of these things could happen but they also may not.

The intense love you feel for your child is like nothing you have ever felt before- from the moment I first saw my dd my life was forever changed.
I have also realized that being a mom forces you to put things into perspective--I let go of a lot of my crap--stay up and clean so the house is picture perfect in the morning--haha not any more.

I always tell pregnant women that labor is not as bad as people say, you just do it and if it were so bad would women have multiple kids? Lol

Also there is nothing like being a mommy, it is amazing!

Eta: if you have a lot of pregnancy symptoms ie: heartburn, ligament pains, long lasting congestion, generally not feeling yourself... It ALL disappears immediatly!!!

This too!!! The back pain, hip pain, hand pain and numbness were gone immediately! Sweet relief!

Yes!!! I had such knee pain from gaining the weight and carpal tunnel. Gone!!!

Re: Spinoff to the things no one tells you.

That honestly the whole thing was nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be... I would say I was going to give birth soon and people would be like OMG you will want to DIE. It'll be awful. It will be so hard during and after. You'll never be the same. Your body will never be the same. It'll be LIFE changing and altering and AHHHHH. Like it was the end of the world as we know it.

It was totally fine. And happy. And serene. And peaceful and lovely. I had a great hospital stay, a great recovery, and my son was an amazing sleeper - another thing everyone was gloom and doom about. That I'll be sleep deprived forever. Did not happen at all. And I know I'm not the only one that had good luck! So, I was very happy that everyone turned out to be way over the top with that. I had such a nice experience, I could have like ten kids Chat Icon

While I was pregnant I once heard a mother say "you're lucky - you get to give birth". I thought she was out of her mind. But it's true...it's not like a feeling of sunshine and rainbows for your body...but it really is the greatest. I'd go through it all over again!

The epi is amazing...I was sitting (the beds at LIJ Katz move in so many positions so whatever is most comfortable for you) in the bed chatting with my parents, sister and husband just watching tv. They were all looking at the monitors to see if I could feel any contractions...complete dead legs and it was fabulous.

You can't eat but honestly I wasn't even hungry the entire time.

The hospital food wasn't bad! Wasn't 5 star restaurant quality but I couldn't complain with the options.

I used to get the worst cramps with my period...I would pop 5 Aleeve at the first sign of blood and that was the only way to ward them off. Now...NOT A THING! Not a single cramp for me! It's glorious compared to the curled up in the fetal position pain I used to be in.

That other thread just almost threw me into a panic attack. I can't even think about it.

Good things....let's see...

Everyone is super nice to you and wants to help you.

People voluntarily make or buy you food. Awesome.

There is nothing better than seeing that little baby for the first time. Its indescribable.

Sudden weight loss!

It's not THAT horrible! Hence why people do it again!

I can honestly say that I did not take one single pain killer after ds was born. Not even advil/tylenol. I was sore after and uncomfortable, but not enough to take something.

I had anxiety going to the bathroom, but everything was fine.

I found the hospital food to be pretty good! And it's nice to have people cater to you! Even if for just a few days.

PP poster said sudden weight loss! It's true! 20 pounds in a week is fantastic!

It's not the end of life as you know it. It's just the start of a new life.

One tip...before the baby is born, get 200 or 300$ in cash, including some singles. There will be nights you WON"T want to cook and it's nice having cash for take out!

Re: Spinoff to the things no one tells you.

Knowing that I will be delivering any day now, that other thread seriously put me into a panic so these are really nice to read, thank you!

You ladies had me at "ailments gone immediately". My carpal tunnel and congestion has been so bad these last couple of months that it keeps me up every single night. I can't take the pain and pins and needles in my hands anymore. I pray I am as fortunate and that it disappears asap.

If your Carpal Tunnel doesn't go away immediately - before you leave the hospital ask for a steroid shot, then it should go away ASAP!

It's really not too bad! I had an awful and long induction only 13 months ago and I'm already going through it all again in a few months!

And it took me a day or so to realize it but all of a sudden I was like, no more carpal tunnel pain or hip pain or pelvic pain or any other pregnancy related pain! It was wonderful!
