teacher gift question

DD is finishing up K this year. I sne tin money to the class mom for a group ift for her teacher and TA.
Do you also give something seperate? What are some of the things people have given in the past?
In pre-k, I gave gift cards but I'm not sure if it the same once in elementary school.
I hate buyimg Visa ift cards because if you have buy 4 or 5 you wind up spending $30 in fees.

Re: teacher gift question

Giving an extra gift on top of the class gift is always a personal decision.

For me, I feel teachers deserve more than the $10 donation to the class gift.

I always give a gift for about 20-25 extra. I have been getting monogrammed gifts for the past couple of years. This year the end of year gift I am giving is one of those infused water bottles where you can put fruit in it and it is monogrammed with their name. I gave out infinity scarfs with their monogrammed initials on it, I have given wristlets with their monogrammed initials on it as well as totes to go to beach...

I have also done gift cards to gloomiest and sacks and lord and Taylor

Our class is collecting $5 and I'm not giving anything else. The teacher is horrible, and I'm not appreciative at all of her efforts this year, so I won't get her anything else. In past years I would contribute, and also get something small.

Middle school is when they stop for most people I know. Can't possibly buy for all 9 teachers.

My son is in high school and I buy all of the teachers something at Christmas time. Plus his therapists, and his aide. I only gift the aide at the end of the year though.

Re: teacher gift question

In our school all parents contribute to the class gift. For some, that is all they do. Others, buy separate gifts. Since the class gift is usually a gift card, those that buy additional gifts usually get a gift and not another gift card. A lot do buy their own presents in addition to contributing to the class gift in our district. HTH!
