Virtual Schooling
My high school nephew in Florida was telling me he does virtual schooling part time. I was unaware this even existed.
Anyone else know anyone who does this? Does NY have this? My kids are always talkng about wanting to be homeschooled but that isn't an option now.

Re: Virtual Schooling
I have heard of it. I have seen commercials for "online schooling". Almost like an online college but for K-12.
I forgot the name of it, and I am not sure if NYS participates- but it seemed interesting.

Virtual Schooling
Our high school is looking into doing it. It was for high school classes that may not have enough students enrolled or if students wanted to take extra classes above and beyond their schedule or could not fit it in. There are a bunch of criteria that needs to be met to make the classes "accredited" and they are looking into it now.

Virtual Schooling
There are homeschool curriculums that are 100% online classes. I know people who do them through Homeschool Connections.
There are also a lot of states that utilize virtual schooling, particularly through a company called K12. It's basically public school at home. They send you a giant box with curriculum and materials. You have to check in online at certain times of the day to make sure you are on task for the day. Many states with overcrowded schools are pushing this. I know it's big in Illinois, Florida, and some other states right now.

Re: Virtual Schooling
I know of high schools in NYC that will use a computer-based program for credit recovery. It's budget friendly for schools and students seem to like it.
