How did I not know that they opened Carlo's Bakery in Westbury?

Have I been living under a rock?

Re: Cake Boss

It's not all that.
DH and I went there last week. We were in Hoboken the week before but the line was insane so we walked out.
In the Galleria location, we bought crumb cake, two black and white cookies and an apple turnover. The $6.00 napoleon we bought never made it into our bag. DH was so pi$$ed about that.
We both found everything to be very sweet.
The crumb cake bottom was dense, the apple turnover pastry was not flaky at all. The cookies - meh.

Can say BTDT but will not hurry back. I'd rather go to Buttercooky in Floral Park.

I was not impressed AT ALL. they were chaotic, disorganized, expensive and not even that great tasting when I went like 4 months ago.

Re: Cake Boss

I've gone many times before they were on tv. There was always a line, like most good bakeries, but the quality and taste was superb compared to now when tv fame hit.

I used to live in Hoboken before it became "famous" and other than looking at the cakes in the window (which were amazing), I was less than impressed with the baked goods compared to some other bakeries I've been to... And now it's a tourist trap.

Re: Cake Boss

I just went to one of the locations they have in Red Bank, NJ this past weekend. My kids both got cupcakes there...they were the worst I've had in a long time. I have never had such a dense cupcake ever. And the frosting was horribly thick. Won't find me visiting another one.

Love Red Bank! We don't live too far.

As a PP said... I used to go there before it was famous when I lived in Hoboken. I remember it being pretty good, but nothing spectacular. The location was just convenient since I lived so close it was a good place to pick up a cake for a party. A friend of mine had them do her son's 1st bday cake from the Hoboken location and it was delicious!
