Just had a gel manicure for the first time, is it hard to maintain? How does your nails hold up? Regular manicure just lasts 2 days if I am lucky....What is everyone's opinion

Gel manicures last a couple weeks, but they destroyed my nails.
My nails were paper thin after a couple months of doing gel

They are amazing in that they last forever but the removal process is rough on the nails.
I only do it for vacations or special occasions- not all the time

I love gel manicures, but they do wreck your nails if you get them all the time. I will usually do them a few times and then take a break and do regular mani's in between for a while. But I do always try to get a gel mani if I'm going away or know that I will be going to a wedding or big event

Gel lasts about 2 weeks or more. I do gel manicure not more than twice a year. I love it, but it is tough on nails.

I just get regular manicures. I usually just do my own nails. I have become skeeved by nail salons. However for special occasions I do gel. Mine usually lasts a week I get tons of cracks in the nail polish it looks disgusting. And like everyone said pain to take off and destroys nails. I like formula X from Sephora- lasts a long time and is regular nail polish.

I get a gel mani every 3 weeks.
I love it. No chips ever.
Going on a year now.
I haven't had my nails become weak.

My salon uses "Perfect match."

My nails must repel gel polish because I've had 2 (not from the same place either) and they started chipping in less than 24 hours and destroyed my nails just as bad as acrilyc tips.

Ive been getting gel manicures for a few years now and love them. I don't have time anymore to go to the nail salon weekly, so this is perfect. I go about every 3 weeks and it does not ruin my nails at all. No chipping either.

I use the CND Shellac brand.

Also, I take the gel off myself before going to the salon. Soak nails in a small bowl of acetone and it just comes right off. No tools, just a buffer after to get any excess off.

I've been going regularly for over a year now and my nails are great. I just broke my thumb nail, but its been forever since i've broken a nail b/c the gel makes them hard.

I like the place I go to b/c the girls there are gentle. I've been to other places near work and b/c they try to get you in and out in 20 min, they are rough.

They gently buff the top to break the gel seal, soak in the foil/acetone wraps. after about 10 min, most of the gel is peeling and falling off.

Some brands will last the two weeks, maybe 3. I've had other times when I've had to go back in a few days b/c the whole nail color layer lifted off.
