What to expect??

I just made my first appointment for January 13. What should I expect out of my first appointment? I'm currently scheduled with a midwife at university obgyn in setauket. Any info would be appreciated.

depends how many weeks you will be. If youre over 7w, you'll most likely get a sonogram for dating and to confirm that is viable.

They will most likely do bloodwork and go over any history that is relevant.

Let's see- first appointment started with a urine sample, blood pressure, weight, and a pap smear since it had been ages since I had one. Then they did an ultrasound (internal) to see what was what. Everything looked good- we saw and heard the heartbeat. We sat down with the doctor to talk about the pregnancy and what to expect and the schedule of tests and appointments. They took some blood and we were on our merry way. It couldn't have been easier.

ETA: I was 7w3d at my first appt.

ETAA: They count the weeks from the last day of your last period so even though you weren't technically pregnant then, they count it.
